It is so delightful to watch love-struck grooms next to their brides. Eric was no exception when it came to Courtney. Every time they were together he would steal glances at her. The morning of the wedding Eric called me and asked me to meet him in a parking lot near his hotel. When I arrived, he had a fun and sweet bouquet of flowers with a note for Courtney. He asked me to place these in her dressing room.
This wedding was full of love and very special moments. Courtney’s father presented her dress to her when it was time to get her ready. Eric surprised his mother with a beautiful pendant and a “Thank you for being an awesome mom” note. During their “First Glance” I worked with the amazing Peter Merry of Merry Weddings to create a surprise moment for the two of them. As Courtney walked down the Hydrangea Tree aisle to her groom, we played their first dance song-Blake Shelton’s “God Gave Me You.” As Eric turned to see Courtney on the aisle, he couldn’t wait and ran up the aisle to meet her half way. It was so romantic; everyone had tears in their eyes.
They chose Fountains Ballroom in Glenwood, Iowa for the stunning occasion. Every little detail was planned and executed. From the moment the guests were on property, they were immersed in the event. This included being welcomed by twenty 6’ tall white trees lining the ¼ mile driveway to the ballroom, an infused water station while guests waited for the ceremony, sugared purple pansies floating in a soft purple champagne cocktail during the cocktail reception. A stunning patterned gobo was shown on a wall in the room that was the pattern from one of Courtney’s favorite earrings.
They also created an Ultra Lounge in the ballroom complete with purple glow tables and soft, white leather furniture for guests to relax in after dancing.
Around 10pm that night, there was a sky lantern release with their guests. It was amazing to see over a hundred lanterns float into the sky at one time.
And, to complete this fairytale day, guests held golden sparklers as the happy couple departed.
