Sophisticated cosmopolitan is what our group wanted to achieve when we set out to do this styled shoot. The inspiration was the new Omaha Downtown Marriot-Capitol District. The elegant, cosmopolitan design that incorporated so much of Omaha’s history fueled our vision. We wanted to represent a couple who lived in downtown. A couple who enjoyed visiting craft distilleries and locally owned restaurants. Rich textures such as velvet, satin and heavy lace helped us get the feel of opulence. When I walked into Ready or Knot and found the gold lace dress, I knew it had a home in this shoot. When Madison put the dress on, everything clicked into place, our picture was complete. I knew the groom would need to look hip but have a classic style that represented the “old world” design of the hotel. I selected a navy tuxedo with a notch lapel to convey the elegance and formal beauty of the day.
We wanted the florals provide a soft, earthy contrast to the bricks and mortar of a downtown location, but have an edge of modern elegance. Phalaenopsis is my absolute favorite flower, naturally we had to incorporate it in some capacity. The bright white color, and clean lines modernized the earthy, organic feel of the greens. We knew the dresses we picked out for this shoot were show stoppers, so the bridal bouquet needed to be dramatic, large and impressive. As I look at these images, I wish I could have carried that bouquet down the aisle for my own wedding. J
Our tablescape featured heavy, luxurious navy velvet cloths with burgundy velvet napkins. The feel was opulent. Menu cards provided by Loree Mayer Design helped us bring organic back into the table with a soft, handcrafted paper and modern calligraphy. The copper edging on the card was over the top. And copper chargers provided by Crate & Barrel, provide the sleek resting place for such a beautiful, soft piece. A simple Phalaenopsis bloom completed the placesetting.
