For those few who know Dismal River Club, they know the true sole of the prairie. It’s hard to imagine finding beauty in the prairie of Western Nebraska, but I can honestly say it exists and will command your soul with the beauty and peace that comes from sitting on a hill overlooking the endless land and vivid blue sky.
Michele & James chose Dismal River Club for their destination wedding weekend with friends and family. The club has numerous activities from golfing, hunting, fishing, hiking, trap shooting, spa, and fine dining. Guests stay in well-appointed and designed cabins and dine on Dismal River’s own, farm- raised, beef.
Michele & James wanted a weekend of relaxation to truly enjoy each and every guest that traveled so far to share in their marriage. A bright, celebratory color palate of yellows, periwinkle, corals, and whites was present in the S'mores welcome party, rehearsal dinner, and wedding day.
Guests were greeted with personalized welcome signs on their own golf carts and cabin doors. Michele and her mother put together the most luxe welcome bag full of branded weekend survival items that included a blanket, golf balls, umbrella, bottle of wine, deck of playing cards, and flashlight. All of this was put in a keepsake bag with a custom drafted Dismal River Club map created by Loree Mayer Design.
Thursday evening kicked off the weekend with a bonfire, S’mores party in which we designed a 25 item S’mores bar that included the traditional fixings along with some fun twists such as chocolate and strawberry marshmallows, Stroop waffles, peppermint patties, Reese's PeanutButter cups, Nutella, and even cinnamon graham crackers. Friday night’s rehearsal dinner hosted a Bacon Bar as a gift from the bride to the groom. The Bacon Bar included chocolate coated bacon, sweet and salty, spicy, and applewood smoked.
The wedding ceremony took place overlooking the Dismal River Club’s golf course complete with rolling hills and the Dismal River. Dinner was a four-course plated meal served at a dining-room style table so everyone felt they shared in the meal with Michele & James. Guest danced the night away under the club’s exposed timber wood beams while sipping on bright pink Prickly Pear Margaritas from the custom monogrammed bar.
It was a perfect destination wedding for a very special family.
"If you are planning an event or wedding - look no further, than Carrie Dayton Events & Consulting. Carrie and her team were fabulous, and the entire wedding weekend ran so smoothly. It was everything I ever dreamed of and more. The word "no" is not in Carrie's vocabulary, so whatever you want, she will find a way to get it done better than you could ever imagine! My husband pretty much summed it up after the wedding when I heard him tell his colleague that if they are going to get married, ‘You have to hire Carrie. I am not sure how it all happened, but it was just perfect.’’
